P4PLAY

P4PLAY is a network of play advocates and researchers that emerged from a funded European Marie Sklodowska-Curie programme advancing PhD research in Occupational Science for Occupational Therapists, 2019-2024. It provides a forum for building and sharing our work connecting research to play advocacy as part of our commitment to knowledge translation and evidence-informed practices.

P4play Research and Play Advocacy Network Europe Dedicated to Enabling Play in Communities

The foundational rationale for P4PLAY is to combine the needs of those who work with children at risk of play deprivation, with the research skills of researchers who are experts in play and play provision. We work with communities, municipaliites, schools, and organisations who need help to address play and social inclusion for diverse children and their families. The P4PLAY research and advocacy network addresses four areas of play: People, Place, Policy and Practice (P4PLAY).

The P4PLAY research programme was initially established in 2019 to advance play and social inclusion and respond to issues of play deprivation as outlined in General Comment no 17 (Convention on the Rights of the Child, 2013). Originating in the study of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, P4play has evolved into an interdisciplinary network of researchers and advocates for the rights of the child for play and participation.
